Other Adventists, however, go far beyond their misguided doctrine.

Seventh-day Adventists has its roots in Adventism which is a nineteenth-century movement that anticipated the imminent appearance of Jesus Christ.

In terms of their own health, Seventh-day Adventists are the most studied population group in the world.

Several studies have tried to find out what factors differentiate the Adventist lifestyle from others and are responsible for their better health.

As early as 1958, one of the first major studies of its kind began. It was about the mortality of Adventists.

As part of this study, tens of thousands of Californian Adventists have been studied over a five-year period.

The results showed remarkably low death rates due to cancer and coronary heart disease.

These two killers (cancer and heart disease) alone are responsible for up to three-quarters of all deaths in the US.

The rates were on average between 60 and 98% lower compared to Californian non-Adventists.

The study was also one of the first of its kind to highlight the dangerous effects of smoking on health.

What are the benefits of the Adventist Diet?

The Seventh Day Adventists diet teaches that man is responsible to his creator and we have to take care of our body, mind, and psyche. The healthy development of these three parts of human existence is important in order to understand the great connections of salvation. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of a comprehensive Bible study. For the Holy Scripture, the Bible is the written word of God, the expression of his love for his creatures.

Pure air, temperance, exercise, sunshine, rest, application of water, trusting the divine power, and proper nutrition – These are the true remedies that Seventh Day Adventists’ belief.

SDA diet recommends more fruits and green leafy veggies which are taken from the tree. It would be good if we cooked less and ate more fruits naturally. Let’s teach people to make copious consumption of fresh grapes, apples, peaches, and pears, as well as any other kind of fruit that can be obtained. People of Seventh Day Adventists do not continue to base their meals on a piece of chicken, pork, or beef. Instead of that, they consume plants origin proteins that include legumes, seeds, whole grains, and nuts.

No any meats are allowed in SDA’s diets including fish, chicken, or and beef. They believe that after tobacco and alcohol which are already banned in their diet, meat is another worst thing that you put into your body.

It is a mistake to assume that muscle strengths depend on consuming animal feed because without it the requirements of the organism can be better met and that is possible to enjoy more robust health. Cereals, fruits, oilseeds, and vegetables contain all the nutritional properties to produce good blood. We cannot get all these elements from meat diet. If the meat had been of indispensable use to give strengths and health, it would have been included in the food indicated to man from the beginning.

What is Seventh Day Adventists Diet?

In the years 1974-1988, the Adventist Health Study followed. There are about 34,000 Californian Adventists had taken part. The aim was to filter out the crucial criteria in the Adventist lifestyle that protects against certain diseases. In addition, Adventists were compared with each other: vegetarians with non-vegetarians, etc. because not all Adventists live consistently vegetarian.

Five criteria seemed to contribute to the longer life expectancy:

  • Do not smoke.
  • Plant-based nutrition.
  • Consume nuts several times a week.
  • Regular exercise.
  • Normal body weight.

Other important factors in their healthy diet, according to the study, were the consumption of legumes, tomatoes, and wholemeal bread, as well as drinking soya milk and plenty of water. Each of these dietary factors caused around 50% less heart disease or up to 70% fewer cancers.

In 2002, the second Adventist health study began. The final evaluation is still pending. Nearly 100,000 Adventist church members from all states of the USA and Canada took part in it. The figure of 100,000 is equivalent to about 10% of American Adventists.

Important ingredients in the diet of long-lived Adventists are nuts, legumes, whole grains, and fruits and vegetables. Drinking plenty of water is another factor. On average, they have up to 76% less heart disease and up to 98% less cancer.

Dr. Gary Fraser, head of the second Adventist Health Study, was asked what things he considers the most important factors for a healthy, long life. In addition to the factors already mentioned, such as non-smoking, plant-based nutrition and nut consumption, he pointed out the far-reaching dangers of alcohol consumption.

He also said, “There is very, very strong evidence that a consistent life of faith has real longevity benefits, and probably diseases such as coronary heart disease.” The typical thing about the Adventist way of life is the holistic approach. Only the interaction of different elements causes outstanding results.

Do Seventh Day Adventists eat meat?
Members of Seventh Day Adventists do not eat and they believe if someone gets sick, or for example, has serious illnesses like cancer, usually blame the consumption of the meat, and say that the Meat is harmful and that is the cause of all diseases.

According to Leviticus, clean meat is the meat of every animal that has the hoof cloven in 2 and chews the cud such as Ox, Cattle, Buffalo, Sheep, Goat, Deer, Mountain Sheep, Antelope, and Gazelle.

Unclean meat that includes Pig, Camel, Hare and Rock Badger, seafood with fins, all winged insects, and all birds are allowed except the eagle, vulture, kite, raven, ostrich, seagull and owls.
